Sweet Baby Ray barbecue sauces were named after brother of the chef who created it! "Sweet Baby Ray" was a the nickname he was given while playing basketball on Chicago's West Side!
In 1985 Larry Raymond perfected an old family recipe and entered the sauce into America's largest rib cookoff. It beat almost 700 other entries in the "riboff" and only a year later Larry, his brother "Sweet Baby Ray" and Mike O'Brien, a high school friend, had a built a company selling the award-winning sauce.
